How to log your diet without a spreadsheet: meal photo and what counts
To log your diet without a spreadsheet, take a photo of the meal, review the items, and save the macros in the same system as your training. Iron System does that with Ler refeição (Read meal): photo → foods → TACO → you adjust grams → the day's kcal/P/C/F updates.
Notebook, WhatsApp, and spreadsheet vanish by day three. Anyone who trains needs a fast log — without becoming a walking spreadsheet.
Logging and template tool. It does not replace a nutritionist (CRN), a doctor, or clinical advice.
Why does the diet vanish in WhatsApp and spreadsheets?
A macro notebook feels like discipline. It works on day 1. By day 3 it's a dead archive:
- you forget the rice grams and "guess" later;
- WhatsApp scrolls and the message sinks between training and delivery;
- the spreadsheet sits in Drive — at the gym the phone won't open it right;
- no useful history: "how much protein did I hit last week?" becomes vibe.
WhatsApp and spreadsheets inherit the same hole: the channel isn't the log. The channel is chat or a table. An athlete's diet needs something else — today's meal, item by item, with the day total next to training.
Without a log, the plan breaks from inconsistency — not from "bad genetics." No log, no adjustment.

What do I need to log (without becoming a nutritionist)?
You don't need to become a TACO-table specialist. You need a log honest enough to see the day:
- The meal — what hit the plate (or the shake), with a quantity estimate.
- The day's macros — kcal, protein (P), carbs (C), and fat (F) against profile targets.
- Training context — session and diet in the same place. Who only logs load and ghosts food loses half the picture; who only counts macros and ghosts training loses the other half.
This is not a prescription. It is not an "AI-generated personalized diet." It is a log: what you ate, reviewed by you, summed for the day. The professional (CRN/doctor) remains who interprets clinical cases, restrictions, and nutrition therapy. The app logs. You decide what to do with the number.
If your situation involves pregnancy, an eating disorder, illness, or rehab, see a professional before any meal template. The System does not build for those cases — and should not.
How does reading a meal from a photo work?
In the Dieta (Diet) flow, the meal doesn't live in a lost screenshot. It lives in the day's log. The short path is Ler refeição:
- Take a photo of the meal (JPEG or PNG).
- The System identifies the foods.
- The TACO table fills the macros.
- You review items and grams — fix what the photo didn't catch right.
- Save the meal to the day.
No catalog match? The UI asks for manual macro entry. That isn't a hidden failure: it's the product being honest. Photo ID isn't clinical perfection. It's a shortcut with human review.
What shows up for the day:
- totals for kcal, P, C, and F;
- comparison to the profile's daily targets (you can estimate macros in the profile);
- food items and their values, ready for history.
There is also Gerar novo modelo de refeições (Generate new meal template) — an optional model day (~30 days) from your profile. A logging template, not a prescription or nutrition therapy.
Ler refeição (and generating a meal template) sits on the paid monthly plan (R$ 19.90) with the rest of that tier — not on the free account. This post's conversion is only opening an account; you pick the plan later in the app.

Do training and diet live in the same system?
Yes. Iron System's tagline is direct: every session, meal, and lab result ranks you up. Ranks run E to S+ from what you log (ceiling D without verification). This post does not invent an XP formula per meal — public copy doesn't detail that.
In practice: saved workouts and meals don't vanish in WhatsApp or a spreadsheet; the same athlete sees session and food in one System. A notebook and a meal-prep screenshot don't rank up. Who ranks up is who saves.

What changes in practice?
Before
- Open WhatsApp.
- Type "150g chicken, 100g rice…"
- Forget dinner.
- End of week: "I think I hit protein."
- Next week: start from zero.
After
- Open Iron System.
- Snap the meal (Ler refeição, on the paid plan).
- Review items and grams.
- Save → day's kcal/P/C/F update against targets.
- Training and diet in the same history when you need them.
Same plate. Different system.
FAQ
Do I need a spreadsheet to track macros?
No. With Ler refeição you log in the app: photo, review, and day totals. The spreadsheet becomes optional — not the source of truth.
Does the photo calculate macros alone with clinical precision?
No. The photo identifies foods, TACO suggests macros, and you review. No catalog match, fill manually. It's logging with a shortcut, not a lab report.
Is Ler refeição free?
No. It's on the paid plan, along with generating a meal template. The free account covers what the public offer lists as free — diet-by-photo is not on that list. You create the account first; you choose the plan later.
Does the meal template replace a nutritionist?
No. It's an optional ~30-day template for logging. Not nutrition therapy and not a CRN prescription.
Can I see training and diet together?
Yes. Session and meal live in the same history. Ranks rise from what you log — not from a WhatsApp screenshot.
Disclaimer (read it for real)
Iron System is a logging and template tool. Ler refeição uses photo, identification, and TACO with your review — no clinical guarantee and no perfect recognition. Generating a model (~30 days) is a template, not a prescribed diet.
It does not replace a nutritionist (CRN), a doctor, or another professional. In pregnancy, eating disorders, illness, or rehab, seek care. The app does not diagnose, treat, or personalize nutrition therapy.
